Weather Today, August 27: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Alert for 14 States, Winds May Reach 80 Kmph

According to the weather update, as many as 14 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, could experience spells of severe weather.

Some areas could see thunderstorms accompanied by powerful wind gusts reaching around 70–80 kmph. Lightning could pose another significant risk, particularly across eastern and northern India.

Atmospheric circulations over northeastern India and parts of northwest Madhya Pradesh are also contributing to unstable weather conditions.

Delhi Weather Today

Delhi could experience rain and thunderstorms on August 27, accompanied by gusty winds of around 40–50 kmph.

The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 34°C, while the minimum could be close to 29°C.

People travelling during periods of intense rain should watch for waterlogging, reduced visibility and temporary traffic disruption.

Uttar Pradesh: Several Districts Under Rain Alert

Several districts of Uttar Pradesh could receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Areas mentioned in the alert include Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Agra, Mathura, Bahraich, Kanpur, Balrampur, Maharajganj, Deoria, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Fatehpur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Lalitpur and Mirzapur.

Lucknow could record a maximum temperature of around 31°C and a minimum of approximately 27°C.

Bihar Could See Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

A large part of Bihar could also experience rain and thunderstorms.

The affected areas may include West Champaran, East Champaran, Gaya, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Araria, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Khagaria and Begusarai.

Thunderstorm winds could reach around 50 kmph in some locations.

Patna is expected to see temperatures ranging between approximately 28°C and 34°C.

Uttarakhand Faces Rain and Landslide Risk

Mountainous areas require extra caution during periods of intense monsoon rainfall.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli and Champawat.

Continuous or intense rainfall in vulnerable mountain regions can trigger landslides, falling rocks and road blockages. Travellers should therefore check road and weather conditions before starting journeys.

Dehradun could record a maximum temperature of around 28°C and a minimum near 24°C.

Himachal Pradesh Weather Alert

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are also expected across parts of Himachal Pradesh.

The warning includes Mandi, Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba, Kinnaur, Solan and Bilaspur.

Winds could reach approximately 40–50 kmph during thunderstorms.

Tourists travelling through mountainous areas should avoid unnecessary journeys during intense rainfall and stay away from vulnerable slopes and overflowing streams.

Jammu and Kashmir Rain Alert

Several areas of Jammu and Kashmir are under a rain warning, including Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Budgam, Kulgam, Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi, Jammu and Kathua.

Rainfall could also bring a noticeable decline in daytime temperatures in some places.

Srinagar could see temperatures ranging from approximately 16°C to 32°C.

Punjab Could See Winds Up to 60 Kmph

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast across parts of Punjab and Chandigarh.

Areas likely to be affected include Ludhiana, Patiala, Chandigarh, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Amritsar, Kapurthala and Jalandhar.

Wind speeds during thunderstorms could reach approximately 50–60 kmph, potentially affecting weak structures, trees and outdoor installations.

Rajasthan Weather Today

Parts of northern and eastern Rajasthan could receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

A yellow alert has been indicated for areas including Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Sikar.

Wind speeds could reach around 40–50 kmph during thunderstorm activity.

Jaipur is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 34°C, while the minimum could remain close to 26°C.

Madhya Pradesh Faces Heavy Rain Warning

Several districts of Madhya Pradesh could experience heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The affected areas include Dhar, Ujjain, Ratlam, Vidisha, Bhopal, Raisen, Katni, Balaghat, Betul, Bhind, Damoh, Datia, Mandsaur, Morena and Indore.

Strong winds of around 40–50 kmph could accompany thunderstorms.

Bhopal could see a maximum temperature of approximately 27°C and a minimum near 23°C.
