UPPCL Chatbot Offers 24/7 Help for Bills, Prepaid Balance and Complaints—Here’s How to Use It
Electricity consumers in Uttar Pradesh no longer need to visit a local power office for every billing question or complaint. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited, commonly known as UPPCL, is promoting its website chatbot as a round-the-clock digital assistance channel for essential consumer services.
The chatbot can help users find their electricity bill, check payment-related information, view smart prepaid meter balances, register complaints and track existing grievances. It can also direct consumers to the correct page on the official UPPCL portal, reducing the time spent searching through multiple sections of the website.
UPPCL confirmed the availability of the facility through a post on its official social-media account, saying consumers can use the website chatbot for information about bills, services and complaints.
What Can Consumers Do Through the UPPCL Chatbot?
The chatbot works as a digital guide on the UPPCL website. Instead of visiting different menus or searching for individual services, consumers can select the relevant option from the chat window.
Depending on the consumer’s account and electricity distribution company, the chatbot may offer access to services such as:
-
Viewing the latest electricity bill
-
Downloading a bill copy
-
Checking the current bill amount and payment deadline
-
Viewing a smart prepaid meter’s available balance
-
Registering a new electricity-related complaint
-
Tracking the status of an existing complaint
-
Finding payment and recharge options
-
Accessing links for other consumer services
Some functions may require the electricity account number, consumer number, registered mobile number or another form of verification. Customers should keep their latest bill nearby before starting the process.
How to Use the UPPCL Website Chatbot
Consumers should begin by visiting the official UPPCL website. On the homepage or consumer-service pages, look for a chat icon or the “Chat with us” option, which usually appears near the bottom of the screen.
Open the chatbot and choose the required service from the available menu. If the consumer wants to check a bill or account balance, the system may ask for the account identifier printed on the electricity bill.
For complaint-related assistance, select the option to register a grievance or track a previously submitted complaint. When a complaint is successfully recorded, save the complaint or docket number. This number will be needed to monitor progress or escalate the issue later.
The portal also provides direct services for bill payments, smart prepaid meter recharges, payment receipts, bill-correction requests and changes to consumer information.
More Services Are Available on the UPPCL Portal
The chatbot is useful for quick navigation, but it is not the only digital facility available. The official portal’s Consumer Corner includes several online services, including:
-
Online electricity bill payment
-
Prepaid smart-meter recharge
-
Last online payment receipt
-
Self-bill generation for eligible connections
-
Application for a new electricity connection
-
Bill-correction requests
-
Name and address correction
-
Mobile number and email updates
-
Load or category change requests
-
Ownership-transfer applications
-
Meter-related service requests
Consumers can also register and track complaints through the 1912 system. The UPPCL consumer portal displays the “Chat with us” facility and provides access to bill-related information.
UPPCL Smart App Is Another Option
Smartphone users may access several services through the official UPPCL Smart app. The application supports consumers across Madhyanchal, Pashchimanchal, Dakshinanchal and Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, as well as KESCO.
The app offers electricity-consumption information, prepaid account balance, recharge facilities, bill payment and access to complaint support. It also provides daily, weekly and monthly usage details for eligible smart-meter connections.
UPPCL describes the application as offering 24-hour assistance through an AI chatbot or live support agents. However, available features may differ according to the user’s meter type, DISCOM and account status.
What If the Chatbot Cannot Resolve the Problem?
A chatbot may help users locate a service or register a request, but complicated billing or technical disputes may still require human intervention.
Consumers can call 1912 to report electricity-supply problems, billing concerns or other service complaints. They should obtain a complaint number and keep screenshots, payment receipts, meter photographs and copies of bills as supporting evidence.
If an issue remains unresolved, the consumer can use the escalation channels provided by the concerned DISCOM or approach the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum through the links available on the UPPCL portal.
Beware of Fake Payment Messages and Support Numbers
Consumers should be cautious while searching for UPPCL services online. Fraudsters may send messages claiming that the electricity connection will be disconnected immediately unless a payment is made or an unknown application is installed.
UPPCL says official bill-payment and electricity-supply information is sent through authorised SMS headers and verified WhatsApp accounts. Consumers should not share an OTP, UPI PIN, debit-card PIN or internet-banking password with anyone claiming to be an electricity official.
Always type the official website address directly into the browser or use a trusted bookmark. Avoid clicking payment links received from unfamiliar mobile numbers. A genuine support representative will not ask a consumer to install a screen-sharing application to resolve a bill problem.
Digital Access Can Save Time
The UPPCL website chatbot brings frequently used electricity services together in one place. Consumers can check bills, review prepaid balances, lodge complaints and monitor their status without making an unnecessary trip to a power office.
Still, users should save acknowledgement numbers and verify that every request has been successfully submitted. For urgent supply failures or matters that cannot be handled online, the 1912 helpline and the relevant DISCOM’s official grievance channels remain available.
