NEET Aspirant News: A 19-year-old medical entrance examination aspirant from Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district has reportedly died by suicide after being disappointed with her NEET score. According to police, the student had hoped to qualify for admission to a medical course but fell short of the qualifying cut-off by 11 marks.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the intense pressure faced by students preparing for highly competitive entrance examinations and the importance of timely mental health support.

Student Had Appeared for NEET Twice

Police said the student, a resident of Jalalpur village in Karjat taluka, had initially appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on May 3. Following a revised examination schedule, she reportedly took the examination again on June 21.

According to family members, she had expected to score more than 300 marks. However, when the results were announced, she secured 166 marks, which was 11 marks below the qualifying cut-off of 177.

Officials said she became deeply distressed after learning the result.

Incident Reported at Her Residence

According to the police, the incident occurred on the afternoon of July 25.

At the time, the student's father and brother had reportedly travelled to Pandharpur for Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations, while her mother was at home attending to household work.

Police said the student had gone into her study room. When she did not respond for a prolonged period, her mother checked the room and found her unresponsive. Authorities were informed immediately, and an investigation was initiated.

Police Recover Handwritten Note

During the preliminary investigation, police recovered a handwritten note from the room.

According to officials, the note indicated that the student had been struggling emotionally after receiving her examination result and requested that her parents and brother should not be held responsible for her death.

Police have registered the case and stated that the investigation is ongoing. Officials also said that the family has not alleged any foul play.
