Delhi Rain Forecast for August 5: Cloudy Skies, Moderate Showers, and Improved Air Quality Across the Capital

Delhi Weather Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Delhi on Wednesday, August 5, forecasting another day of cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall across the national capital. According to the latest weather outlook, several parts of the city are likely to experience light to moderate showers, raising concerns over traffic congestion and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

The weather department has also indicated that wet conditions may continue over the coming days, with rainfall expected to persist across Delhi and nearby regions.

IMD Predicts More Rain Across Delhi

The IMD expects cloudy conditions to prevail throughout the day, accompanied by one or more spells of rain in many parts of the city.

While light showers are likely in most areas, some localities may witness moderate rainfall, particularly between the morning and afternoon hours. Another round of light rain is also possible during the evening and night.

The department has further forecast widespread rainfall between August 4 and August 6 over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Current weather projections also suggest that rainfall activity may continue in Delhi until around August 10, although local conditions could vary.

Tuesday's Rain Brings Relief from Humidity

Rainfall on Tuesday provided much-needed relief from the humid weather that had affected residents in recent days.

According to IMD observations recorded between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, Ayanagar received the highest rainfall in Delhi with 49.3 mm.

Rainfall recorded at other monitoring stations included:

• Safdarjung: 9.4 mm

• Palam: 8.1 mm

• Lodhi Road: 3.7 mm

• Ridge: 1.5 mm

Earlier observations covering the previous 24-hour period until Tuesday morning showed 23.6 mm of rainfall in Ayanagar, while Safdarjung, Palam, and Ridge reported only trace amounts.

The showers helped lower humidity levels and brought more comfortable weather conditions across several parts of the city.

Temperature Expected to Stay Moderate

The IMD has forecast relatively pleasant temperatures for Wednesday due to continuous cloud cover and rainfall.

The expected temperature range is:

• Maximum Temperature: 32°C to 34°C

• Minimum Temperature: 23°C to 25°C

On Tuesday, Safdarjung, considered Delhi's official weather station, recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5°C, which was 0.7 degrees below normal.

The minimum temperature stood at 27.4°C, slightly above the seasonal average.

Among the city's weather stations, Ayanagar remained the coolest, recording a maximum temperature of 30.6°C, around 3.4 degrees below normal.

Yellow Alert Issued for Waterlogging and Traffic Disruptions

Along with the rainfall forecast, the IMD has advised residents to remain cautious while travelling.

Heavy showers may lead to:

• Waterlogging in low-lying areas

• Slower traffic movement

• Reduced visibility during rain

• Increased risk of road accidents

Residents are encouraged to check live traffic updates before leaving home, follow advisories issued by local authorities, and avoid roads that are known to flood during heavy rainfall whenever possible.

Air Quality Improves After Rainfall

The recent spell of rain has also contributed to better air quality in the national capital.

According to data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 64 on Tuesday evening.

This placed the city's air quality in the "Satisfactory" category for the fourth consecutive day, reflecting the positive impact of rainfall in reducing airborne pollutants.

What Residents Should Expect Today

With rain clouds expected to remain active throughout Wednesday, Delhi residents should prepare for changing weather conditions during the day. Commuters may experience delays during peak traffic hours, while occasional moderate showers could affect outdoor activities.

Carrying an umbrella or raincoat, planning travel in advance, and staying updated with official weather bulletins can help minimize inconvenience as the city continues to experience active monsoon conditions.
