PM-Kisan 24th Instalment: Complete These 5 Checks to Avoid Delays in Receiving ₹2,000

Millions of farmers across India receive financial assistance through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, commonly known as PM-Kisan. Eligible landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually through three instalments of ₹2,000 each. The money is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s eligible bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.

With beneficiaries looking ahead to the 24th PM-Kisan instalment, farmers should review their records well before the payment is released. An incomplete e-KYC, an Aadhaar-bank linking problem or an error in land records can result in a delayed or unsuccessful payment.

Farmers should also remember that an official release date for an instalment must be confirmed through the PM-Kisan portal or a government announcement. Messages circulating on social media should not be treated as confirmation.

Here are five important checks beneficiaries can complete to reduce the risk of their ₹2,000 payment getting stuck.

1. Complete PM-Kisan e-KYC

Completing e-KYC is one of the most important requirements for registered PM-Kisan beneficiaries. It allows the government to authenticate the identity of the farmer and helps prevent payments from being sent to duplicate or ineligible records.

Farmers can generally complete e-KYC through one of the following methods:

  • OTP-based e-KYC: Visit the official PM-Kisan portal and select the e-KYC option under the Farmers Corner section. Enter the Aadhaar number and complete verification using the OTP received on the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

  • Biometric e-KYC: Farmers who do not have access to their Aadhaar-registered mobile number can visit an authorised Common Service Centre and complete authentication using their fingerprints.

  • Face-authentication facility: Where available, the official PM-Kisan mobile application can be used to complete e-KYC through facial authentication. Farmers should download the application only from an official app store and verify the developer before installing it.

After completing the process, beneficiaries should revisit the portal and confirm that their e-KYC status has been updated successfully.

2. Check Land-Seeding and Land-Record Status

PM-Kisan eligibility is connected with landholding and other conditions prescribed under the scheme. A mismatch between the application and the state’s digitised land records may prevent the instalment from being processed.

Farmers should check whether their beneficiary record shows land-seeding as complete. If the portal displays “Land Seeding: No” or indicates that land verification is pending, the beneficiary may need assistance from the relevant state or district authority.

Depending on the local procedure, farmers may be asked to carry documents such as:

  • Aadhaar card

  • Bank passbook

  • Khatauni, Jamabandi or another recognised land record

  • PM-Kisan registration details

  • Mobile number linked with the application

The correction process may be handled through the local revenue official, agriculture office, tehsil, patwari or another authority designated by the state government. Since procedures differ between states, farmers should confirm the correct office before visiting.

3. Verify Aadhaar Seeding and DBT Status With the Bank

Simply submitting a photocopy of Aadhaar at a bank branch does not always mean that every required payment-linking process has been completed. Beneficiaries should confirm that their eligible bank account is properly linked with Aadhaar and enabled to receive government benefits through DBT.

Payments may fail if the account is inactive, incorrectly linked, closed or affected by changes following a bank merger. An outdated IFSC code or a mismatch in account-holder details can also create problems.

Farmers can visit their bank branch and request verification of:

  • Aadhaar seeding with the account

  • DBT enablement

  • Account status

  • Correct name and account number

  • Mobile-number registration

  • NPCI mapping, where applicable

Beneficiaries should never disclose an OTP, ATM PIN, UPI PIN or banking password to anyone claiming that it is needed to release a PM-Kisan instalment.

4. Match the Name and Personal Details Across Records

Even a small difference in the beneficiary’s name can interfere with digital verification. For example, the name on Aadhaar may not match the spelling entered in the PM-Kisan application or recorded in bank and land documents.

Farmers should compare the following information carefully:

  • Name and spelling

  • Father’s or husband’s name, where applicable

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Aadhaar number

  • Bank-account details

  • Land-record information

If the PM-Kisan record contains a correctable Aadhaar-related name mismatch, the relevant correction facility on the portal may help. More complicated errors may require assistance from the state agriculture department or the local PM-Kisan nodal officer.

A beneficiary whose status shows “Rejected by Bank,” “Aadhaar Authentication Failed” or another error should not wait until the instalment date. The reason should be identified and corrected as soon as possible.

5. Check Farmer Registry and State-Level Verification

Several states are developing digital farmer registries to connect farmers’ identity, land and scheme-related information. However, registration requirements and implementation schedules may differ from one state to another.

Farmers should check with their gram panchayat, agriculture department, farmer service centre or block office to determine whether a Farmer Registry or Farmer ID requirement applies in their state.

Anyone wrongly marked as an income-tax payer, ineligible beneficiary or person without verified land should submit supporting documents to the designated authority. Such corrections generally require verification, so they should be initiated early.

How to Check PM-Kisan Beneficiary Status Online

Registered farmers can review their payment and verification status through the official portal:

  1. Visit pmkisan.gov.in.

  2. Open the Farmers Corner section.

  3. Select Know Your Status.

  4. Enter the PM-Kisan registration number.

  5. Fill in the captcha and complete any required verification.

  6. Review the displayed e-KYC, land-seeding, Aadhaar and payment information.

Farmers who do not remember their registration number can use the recovery option available on the portal, subject to the information requested by the system.

Avoid Fake Instalment Links and Payment Demands

PM-Kisan beneficiaries should be cautious of messages promising early payment or instant approval. Do not click on suspicious links or pay an agent who claims to unlock a stopped instalment. Corrections should be made through the official portal, authorised centres, banks or designated government offices.

Completing these five checks does not override the scheme’s eligibility rules, but it can help eligible farmers avoid preventable technical delays. The final release schedule for the 24th instalment should be confirmed only through an official government notification.
