Millions of farmers waiting for the next ₹2,000 payment under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme are watching closely for an official announcement on the 24th instalment.

The next payment is being widely expected around October 2026, raising hopes that eligible farmers could receive ₹2,000 before Diwali. However, as of September 28, the official PM-KISAN portal still identifies the June 20 payment as the latest, 23rd instalment, and no official release date for the 24th instalment has been announced there.

Farmers should therefore treat reports about an October or pre-Diwali payment as an expected timeline rather than a confirmed date.

What is already confirmed, however, is that beneficiaries need to meet important verification requirements to receive PM-KISAN benefits. The government has specifically identified land seeding, Aadhaar linking with the bank account and e-KYC as mandatory requirements.

How Much Does PM-KISAN Provide?

Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 per year, paid in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The money is transferred to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. Cultivable landholding is a primary eligibility criterion, subject to the exclusions specified under the scheme.

This means each eligible beneficiary receives:

PM-KISAN Benefit Amount
Each instalment ₹2,000
Number of instalments per year 3
Total annual benefit ₹6,000

When Was the 23rd Instalment Released?

The government released the 23rd PM-KISAN instalment on June 20, 2026, from Tarakeswar in Hooghly, West Bengal.

According to the Press Information Bureau, more than ₹18,880 crore was transferred to over 9.44 crore farmers under the 23rd instalment.

With farmers now waiting for the next payment, attention has naturally shifted to the 24th instalment.

Will the 24th Instalment Arrive Before Diwali?

An October release is being discussed because of the scheme's payment cycle and the timing of the previous instalment.

But farmers should not consider the Diwali timeline officially confirmed yet.

The PM-KISAN portal currently states that the 23rd instalment was released on June 20, 2026. It does not currently provide a confirmed date for the 24th instalment.

Therefore, headlines claiming that ₹2,000 will definitely be deposited on a specific October date should be treated cautiously until the government makes an announcement.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries can use the waiting period to make sure their records are ready.

Three Important Things Farmers Should Check

The government has made three requirements particularly important for PM-KISAN beneficiaries:

1. Land seeding

2. Aadhaar seeding/linking with the bank account

3. e-KYC

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare confirmed in August 2026 that these requirements are essential conditions for beneficiaries to qualify for PM-KISAN payments.

Farmers with incomplete verification could therefore face problems receiving an instalment even if they were previously registered under the scheme.

1. Check Your Land Seeding Status

Land details are an important part of PM-KISAN beneficiary verification.

Farmers can use the official PM-KISAN portal's status facilities to check their beneficiary information.

Official PM-KISAN Portal

The portal provides a Know Your Status facility that beneficiaries can use to review their PM-KISAN information.

If land seeding is shown as incomplete, the beneficiary may need to get the relevant land records verified and updated through the appropriate local/state authority.

The exact offline procedure can differ by state, so farmers should follow instructions from the competent local revenue or agriculture authority rather than relying on an unofficial agent.

2. Make Sure Aadhaar Is Properly Seeded With the Bank Account

The second major requirement involves Aadhaar and the beneficiary's bank account.

PM-KISAN benefits are transferred through DBT into eligible farmers' Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.

A beneficiary should therefore make sure that the bank account being used for PM-KISAN meets the required Aadhaar/DBT conditions.

An incorrect account number, incomplete Aadhaar seeding or unresolved bank-related verification issue can potentially interfere with payment processing.

If the portal indicates a bank or Aadhaar-related problem, farmers should get it corrected through the appropriate official channel.

3. Complete PM-KISAN e-KYC

This is another particularly important step.

The official PM-KISAN portal clearly states that e-KYC is mandatory for registered PM-KISAN farmers.

The portal also indicates that biometric-based e-KYC facilities are available through authorised channels, including CSC-related access, the PM-KISAN mobile application and authorised state-user mechanisms.

Farmers should complete the process only through official or authorised channels.

Avoid giving Aadhaar OTPs, banking PINs or other sensitive information to unknown people claiming that they can release a blocked PM-KISAN payment.

What Happens If These Requirements Aren't Completed?

Incomplete verification can affect benefit payments.

The government has previously stated that land seeding, Aadhaar-based payment and e-KYC were made mandatory and that benefits were stopped where farmers had not completed the required conditions. It has also said that once eligible farmers complete mandatory requirements, benefits can be provided along with due instalments, where applicable.

However, completing these steps does not override the scheme's eligibility rules.

A person must still qualify as an eligible beneficiary under PM-KISAN.

Check Your Eligibility Status Too

Completing e-KYC alone does not automatically guarantee a ₹2,000 payment.

The government verifies beneficiaries using information supplied and validated by states and Union Territories.

The official PM-KISAN portal also notes that some suspected cases falling under exclusion criteria have had benefits temporarily withheld pending physical verification. It advises farmers to check their eligibility through the Know Your Status facility, the PM-KISAN mobile app or Kisan eMitra chatbot.

Therefore, beneficiaries should check both their verification status and eligibility status.

Don't Pay an Agent Just to Check Your ₹2,000 Status

The anticipation surrounding a new PM-KISAN instalment can also create opportunities for fraud.

Farmers should be cautious about calls or messages claiming that a fee must be paid to “release” the ₹2,000 instalment.

Do not share banking passwords, ATM PINs or OTPs with unknown callers.

Use the official PM-KISAN portal and authorised government channels for beneficiary information and verification.

What Farmers Should Do Before the 24th Instalment

Farmers do not need to wait for the government to announce the payment date before checking their records.

Beneficiaries can use this time to confirm that:

  • e-KYC has been completed.

  • Aadhaar and bank-account requirements are in order.

  • Land details are properly seeded and verified.

  • Personal and beneficiary information is correct.

  • Eligibility/status does not show a pending verification problem.

These checks can help reduce the possibility of a payment being held up because of incomplete beneficiary records.

₹2,000 Before Diwali? Wait for the Official Date

The 24th PM-KISAN instalment is expected to provide another ₹2,000 to eligible beneficiaries, but farmers should distinguish between an expected timeline and an official government announcement.

The confirmed position as of September 28, 2026 is that the 23rd instalment was released on June 20, 2026, benefiting more than 9.44 crore farmers with transfers exceeding ₹18,880 crore.

An October 2026 or pre-Diwali release of the 24th instalment remains an expectation until an official date is announced.

What farmers can do immediately is make sure that e-KYC, Aadhaar-bank seeding and land seeding are complete, as these are mandatory requirements under the scheme.

For the payment date and beneficiary status, rely on the official PM-KISAN portal rather than social-media messages or unofficial claims.
