LPG cylinder prices remained an important concern for households and businesses on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as domestic and commercial gas rates continued to vary across major Indian cities.

For household users, the price of a standard 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remained close to ₹1,000 in some cities. Commercial users, including restaurants, hotels, caterers and small businesses, continued to face much higher costs, with 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders priced above ₹2,700 in several major markets.

The price difference from one city to another is linked to transportation costs, distribution expenses and other local factors. At the same time, the government is working on a broader energy strategy aimed at strengthening LPG supplies, diversifying imports and encouraging greater use of piped natural gas in urban areas.

Here is a look at the latest LPG prices reported for August 25, 2026.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Price in Delhi

In Delhi, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder was priced at ₹942 on August 25.

The capital remained slightly more expensive than Noida, where the same cylinder was available for ₹939.50, but cheaper than Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai.

For households that depend on LPG for daily cooking, even a modest change in the cylinder rate can have an impact on monthly expenses.

LPG Price in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad

In Mumbai, the price of a domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinder stood at ₹941.50.

Bengaluru reported a price of ₹944.50, while Hyderabad remained one of the most expensive major cities in the list, with the domestic cylinder priced at ₹994.

This means the difference between Mumbai and Hyderabad was more than ₹50 per cylinder.

Chennai, Kolkata and Jaipur LPG Rates

In Chennai, the domestic LPG cylinder was priced at ₹957.50, while Kolkata reported a rate of ₹968.

Jaipur consumers were paying ₹945.50 for a 14.2 kg cylinder.

These variations show why customers should check their local distributor's rate rather than relying on a single national figure.

Domestic LPG Price in Noida, Gurugram and Chandigarh

Noida had the lowest domestic LPG price among the cities listed, at ₹939.50 per 14.2 kg cylinder.

In Gurugram, the rate stood at ₹950.50, while Chandigarh reported a price of ₹951.50.

Among the cities mentioned, Hyderabad had the highest domestic LPG price at ₹994, while Noida had the lowest.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Rates on August 25

Commercial LPG remains significantly more expensive because the cylinders are larger and are intended for business use.

The latest 19 kg commercial cylinder rates were:

  • Delhi: ₹2,738

  • Mumbai: ₹2,691.50

  • Bengaluru: ₹2,821

  • Hyderabad: ₹2,985

  • Chennai: ₹2,906

  • Kolkata: ₹2,872.50

  • Jaipur: ₹2,765.50

  • Noida: ₹2,738

  • Gurugram: ₹2,755

  • Chandigarh: ₹2,760

Among these cities, Hyderabad had the highest commercial LPG price at ₹2,985, while Mumbai had the lowest at ₹2,691.50.

Why Commercial LPG Prices Matter to Consumers

Commercial LPG is widely used by restaurants, hotels, roadside eateries, caterers, bakeries and other food businesses.

A rise in commercial cylinder prices can increase operating expenses for such establishments. In some cases, higher fuel costs may eventually be reflected in menu prices, catering charges or other consumer expenses.

This is why commercial LPG revisions are closely tracked even by people who do not directly purchase 19 kg cylinders themselves.

Why Is India Focusing on LPG Supply Security?

India relies significantly on imported LPG, making the country sensitive to disruptions in global energy markets.

Geopolitical tensions in West Asia can create uncertainty around shipping routes and supply availability. Any serious interruption in LPG imports can potentially increase costs or put pressure on domestic availability.

To reduce this risk, the government and state-run oil marketing companies are working to diversify LPG import sources.

According to the reported strategy, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum are expected to source a larger share of future LPG imports through term contracts with suppliers outside traditional West Asian markets.

The aim is to reduce overdependence on one region and improve long-term supply security.

More LPG Imports From the US and Other Countries

India has also been increasing LPG procurement from countries such as the United States and Algeria.

Diversification gives energy companies more options if supply from one region is interrupted or becomes too expensive.

A broader supplier base can also strengthen India's bargaining position in the international market and reduce exposure to sudden geopolitical shocks.

Domestic LPG Production Is Also in Focus

The government is reportedly pushing refineries and upstream energy companies to maximise LPG production within India.

Higher domestic output can reduce dependence on imports and provide an additional buffer during periods of global supply disruption.

The combined potential output being targeted across refineries and upstream companies is substantial and could cover a significant share of the country's daily LPG consumption if fully achieved.

However, actual production levels can depend on refinery configurations, crude availability, feedstock economics and operational conditions.

Government Also Promoting PNG Connections

Alongside measures to strengthen LPG supplies, the government is also encouraging greater adoption of Piped Natural Gas, or PNG, in cities where pipeline infrastructure is available.

PNG is delivered directly to homes through a gas pipeline network, removing the need for cylinder booking, transportation and storage.

A new incentive framework is expected to support expansion of domestic PNG connections from September 2026.

The policy is intended to reduce logistics pressure on LPG distribution networks and give urban households another cooking-fuel option.

LPG and PNG Serve Different Markets

PNG is not yet available everywhere, so LPG will continue to remain essential for millions of households, particularly in rural areas, smaller towns and locations where city gas networks have not reached.

The transition toward PNG is therefore expected to be gradual rather than an immediate replacement of LPG.

Households that already have access to city gas networks may increasingly consider PNG for convenience, while LPG will continue to play a central role in India's cooking-fuel system.

How Consumers Can Check the Latest LPG Price

LPG prices can change periodically, so consumers should confirm the latest rate before booking a refill.

Customers can check prices through the official websites, apps or customer-care services of Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum. Local distributors can also provide the applicable city-specific rate.

For August 25, 2026, domestic LPG prices remained below ₹1,000 in the major cities listed above, while commercial cylinders continued to cost substantially more.

With international energy markets still facing geopolitical uncertainty, LPG supply security, import diversification and the expansion of PNG networks are likely to remain important policy priorities in the months ahead.
