LPG Price Hike From September 1: Commercial Cylinder Rates Rise by Up to ₹10.50; Domestic LPG Unchanged

Commercial LPG users have received a fresh price shock at the beginning of September. From September 1, 2026, oil marketing companies have increased the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by up to ₹10.50 across major cities.

The price hike, however, does not apply to the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder used by households. Domestic LPG rates have been kept unchanged for now.

After the latest revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder costs ₹2,747.50 in Delhi, ₹2,701 in Mumbai and ₹2,916.50 in Chennai. The increase mainly affects hotels, restaurants, dhabas, caterers and other commercial establishments that depend on LPG for daily cooking operations.

The price of the 5-kg non-domestic LPG cylinder sold at market rates has also been increased by ₹2, taking it to ₹764.

New Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices From September 1

The latest revision has made commercial cooking gas slightly more expensive after two consecutive months of price cuts.

For such businesses, LPG is a recurring operating expense. Therefore, even a modest increase can raise monthly kitchen costs, particularly for establishments that use multiple cylinders every day or week.

For example, if a restaurant uses 20 commercial cylinders in a month and each cylinder costs ₹10 more, its monthly LPG expense could increase by around ₹200, assuming consumption remains the same.

The actual impact will depend on the city-wise increase and the number of cylinders consumed.

5-kg Non-Domestic Cylinder Also Becomes Costlier

The price revision is not limited to the 19-kg commercial cylinder.

The report states that the price of the 5-kg non-domestic LPG cylinder sold at market rates has been increased by ₹2.

After the revision, its price has reached ₹764.

These smaller cylinders are also used for non-domestic and commercial requirements, making the increase relevant for small businesses and establishments with lower LPG consumption.

Commercial LPG Was Cheaper in August and July

The September increase comes after commercial LPG prices were reduced in the previous two months.

According to the report, commercial cylinder prices were cut by as much as ₹209 in August, while the reduction in July was up to ₹183.50.

Before these reductions, commercial LPG prices had seen repeated increases during the first half of 2026.

The report says prices were raised seven times between January and June, including two increases during March.

The earlier upward pressure was linked to disruptions and concerns in the global LPG market amid tensions and conflict in West Asia.

This means commercial LPG prices have remained highly volatile during the year, with businesses experiencing both sharp reductions and repeated increases.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Price Remains Unchanged

There is relief for household consumers because the price of the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has not been increased from September 1.

The last revision in domestic LPG prices was reported on June 7, 2026, when the price was increased by ₹29.

Domestic LPG pricing, meanwhile, can follow a different approach, which is why household cylinder rates may remain unchanged even when commercial LPG becomes costlier.

For consumers, this distinction is important because a headline saying “LPG prices increased” does not necessarily mean that every household cylinder has become more expensive.

In the latest revision, the increase is specifically concentrated on commercial and non-domestic LPG cylinders.

September Begins With Multiple Fuel Price Changes

The commercial LPG revision comes at a time when other gas prices are also witnessing changes.

CNG and PNG prices have also been revised in some regions, increasing the cost burden for vehicle users, households and businesses.

For commercial establishments, higher LPG prices may add to other input costs such as food ingredients, transport, wages and utilities.

Whether businesses pass these higher costs on to customers through menu-price increases will depend on their overall cost structure and competitive conditions.
