Domestic LPG customers have received additional time to complete their e-KYC process after the earlier deadline was extended. Consumers can now finish the required verification by August 23, 2026, giving those who could not complete the process earlier another opportunity to update their details.

The previous deadline was reportedly August 16, which led to a rush at LPG distribution agencies as customers tried to finish Aadhaar and mobile number verification on time. The extension is expected to ease pressure on consumers as well as gas agencies handling large numbers of verification requests.

The development is particularly significant for LPG customers in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, where around 2.87 lakh consumers are connected with 30 LPG agencies.

LPG e-KYC Deadline Extended Until August 23

According to information shared with LPG distributors, consumers have been given time until August 23 to complete their e-KYC requirements.

The earlier deadline had prompted many customers to visit their respective LPG agencies on August 16. Consumers were concerned that failing to complete verification within the prescribed period could affect the price or availability of their domestic LPG cylinders.

The report said customers who failed to meet the verification requirement within the deadline could face the possibility of receiving cylinders at commercial LPG rates instead of domestic rates. With the deadline now extended, customers who are yet to complete the process have additional time to do so.

Consumers, however, should avoid waiting until the final day, as LPG agencies could witness heavier crowds as the new deadline approaches.

Nearly 2.87 Lakh LPG Customers in Mainpuri

Mainpuri has a substantial domestic LPG consumer base. Around 2.87 lakh customers in the district are served through 30 LPG distribution agencies operated by three major oil marketing networks.

Of these, four agencies are associated with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), nine with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), while 17 operate under the Indane network.

The large number of consumers explains why LPG agencies witnessed increased footfall ahead of the earlier deadline.

At one LPG agency located on Railway Station Road, customers completed the verification process using Aadhaar authentication. Agencies are also contacting customers who have not yet completed their e-KYC and asking them to finish the requirement before the revised deadline.

According to a technical adviser cited in the report, information received from BPCL indicated that the deadline had been moved to August 23. At the concerned agency, only around 10% to 12% of customers were reportedly still awaiting completion of the verification process.

Why Is e-KYC Important for LPG Customers?

The e-KYC process is intended to verify the identity and registered details of LPG connection holders. It helps ensure that the information available with the gas distributor matches the details of the actual consumer.

Verification can also help oil marketing companies maintain updated customer records and identify discrepancies in LPG connections.

Consumers whose details are incomplete or outdated should therefore complete the process within the prescribed period rather than delaying it until the last moment.

How to Complete LPG e-KYC at a Gas Agency

Consumers who still need to complete e-KYC can visit the LPG agency associated with their connection. They should carry their LPG connection booklet or relevant consumer details and keep their registered mobile phone with them.

At the agency, the consumer's information is checked against the records maintained by the LPG company. Aadhaar-based identity verification may also be carried out as part of the process.

After the details are matched, an OTP is sent to the mobile number registered with the LPG connection. The consumer must provide or verify this OTP to complete the authentication process.

Customers should never disclose an OTP to an unknown caller or share sensitive Aadhaar, banking or LPG account information with unverified individuals. Verification should be completed only through an authorised LPG distributor or an officially supported channel.

Consumers Should Complete Verification Before the New Deadline

The extension provides useful breathing room to customers who missed the earlier August 16 deadline, but the additional time is limited.

Consumers whose e-KYC is still pending should check their status with their LPG distributor and complete the required verification before August 23, 2026. Finishing the process early can help avoid last-minute queues, technical problems or delays at gas agencies.

Customers should also ensure that the mobile number linked with their LPG connection is active because OTP authentication may be required during verification.

The revised deadline has brought temporary relief to thousands of domestic LPG users, particularly those who were unable to complete the process earlier. However, consumers are advised to treat the extension as an additional opportunity to finish verification rather than wait for another deadline change.
