LPG e-KYC Deadline 2026: Domestic LPG consumers have received additional time to complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC. The deadline has reportedly been extended to August 23, 2026. Consumers who fail to complete verification could face disruption in domestic-rate benefits or subsidy eligibility.

Domestic LPG consumers who have not yet completed their e-KYC have received some additional time. According to reports published on August 17, the deadline for LPG e-KYC has been extended to August 23, 2026, from the earlier August 16 deadline.

The extension comes as many consumers faced technical difficulties with the verification process and long queues were reported at LPG distributor outlets.

For consumers whose verification is still pending, completing the process before the revised deadline is important because failure to update e-KYC could affect benefits linked to a domestic LPG connection.

What Could Happen If LPG e-KYC Is Not Completed?

Reports indicate that consumers whose e-KYC remains incomplete may face restrictions on benefits associated with their domestic connection. This could include disruption to subsidy benefits or, depending on the applicable rules and consumer category, access to LPG at domestic rates.

However, consumers should be careful about interpreting this as meaning that every unverified LPG connection will automatically and permanently be cancelled on August 24. The consequences can depend on the applicable consumer category and instructions issued by the oil marketing company.

Consumers should therefore verify their individual status with their LPG distributor or provider rather than relying on forwarded WhatsApp messages.

Why Is LPG e-KYC Required?

The e-KYC exercise helps oil marketing companies verify the identity of LPG consumers and identify duplicate or potentially irregular connections.

It is particularly relevant for consumers receiving government benefits or subsidies. The official PMUY portal lists Aadhaar and KYC documentation among the requirements associated with LPG connections under the scheme.

How Can You Complete LPG e-KYC?

Consumers can generally complete verification through their LPG provider's authorised channels. Depending on the provider and facility available, Aadhaar verification can be completed digitally or with the assistance of the LPG distributor.

Reports indicate that consumers of Indane, Bharatgas and HP Gas may use the respective official mobile services where supported or visit their LPG distributor for verification.

For official LPG consumer services, the government-backed MyLPG portal provides access to services across the major LPG providers.

Keep Aadhaar and Registered Mobile Details Ready

When completing e-KYC, consumers should keep their LPG consumer details and Aadhaar information ready. If digital verification is being used, the mobile number and other account information may also need to be correctly linked.

Avoid sharing Aadhaar OTPs, banking passwords, UPI PINs or other confidential information with anyone claiming that they can "activate" your LPG connection remotely.

Use only the official app, website or your authorised LPG distributor.

Domestic and Commercial Cylinders Are Different

Domestic LPG cylinders and commercial cylinders fall under different categories. IndianOil, for example, states that its 5 kg and 14.2 kg cylinders are largely intended for domestic use, whereas 19 kg and larger cylinders are marketed primarily for commercial and industrial consumption. This distinction is important when reports warn that consumers who do not complete e-KYC may lose access to domestic-rate benefits.

Don't Wait Until August 23

Even though consumers have reportedly received an extension until August 23, 2026, completing e-KYC early could help avoid last-minute problems such as app errors, failed Aadhaar verification or crowds at gas agencies.

Consumers whose e-KYC is already complete generally do not need to repeat the process unless their LPG provider specifically asks them to do so.

For doubts about the status of a connection, contact the authorised distributor or use the official portal of your LPG company.

Disclaimer: The August 23 deadline and reported consequences are based on current reports published on August 17, 2026. Implementation and eligibility conditions may differ by state, LPG provider and consumer category. Consumers should confirm their e-KYC status and applicable requirements through their authorised LPG distributor or official oil-company channels.
