DA Hike Salary Calculator 2026: Central government employees have received an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), with the rate rising from 60% to 63%. The revised rate is effective from July 1, 2026, and will increase the monthly DA received by eligible employees under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

According to a Live Hindustan report published on October 28, 2026, employees in Pay Levels 1 to 10 can expect an additional ₹540 to ₹1,683 per month when the calculation is based on the minimum basic pay of each level.

Employees with higher basic pay within the same pay level will receive a larger increase.

The revision may also result in arrears for the months beginning July 2026, depending on when the revised payments are processed.

DA Increased From 60% to 63%: What Has Changed?

Dearness Allowance is an inflation-linked component of salary paid to eligible central government employees.

It is calculated as a percentage of basic pay and is revised periodically to reflect changes in the cost of living.

The latest revision raises DA by 3 percentage points.

How Much Will Level 1 to Level 5 Employees Receive?

Employees in the lower pay levels will receive additional DA based on their respective basic pay.

A Level 1 employee with minimum basic pay of ₹18,000 previously received ₹10,800 in DA.

At 63%, the amount becomes ₹11,340, resulting in a monthly increase of ₹540.

Similarly, a Level 2 employee with minimum basic pay of ₹19,900 will receive ₹597 more each month.

For Level 3, the additional amount is ₹651, while Level 4 employees at the minimum basic pay will receive ₹765 extra.

Level 5 employees with minimum basic pay of ₹29,200 will receive an additional ₹876 per month.

These calculations assume that the employee is receiving the minimum basic pay for the relevant level.

DA Hike for Level 6 to Level 10 Employees

Employees in higher pay levels generally have higher minimum basic salaries, resulting in larger DA increases.

A Level 6 employee with minimum basic pay of ₹35,400 will receive ₹1,062 more per month.

For Level 7, the increase is ₹1,347, while Level 8 employees will receive ₹1,428 extra at the minimum basic pay.

Level 9 employees will receive ₹1,593 more per month.

At Level 10, where the minimum basic pay is ₹56,100, the monthly increase will be ₹1,683.

Employees who have progressed to higher basic pay stages within these levels will receive more than the amounts shown.

How Is the 3% DA Increase Calculated?

The calculation is straightforward.

The additional DA is equal to 3% of the employee's eligible basic pay.

\[ \text{Monthly DA Increase}=\frac{\text{Basic Pay}\times3}{100} \]

For example, an employee with basic pay of ₹35,400 will receive:

₹35,400 × 3 ÷ 100 = ₹1,062 per month.

The same formula can be applied to any eligible basic salary.

It is important to calculate the increase using basic pay, not the employee's full gross salary.

Will Central Government Employees Receive Four Months of Arrears?

The revised DA rate is effective from July 1, 2026.

Therefore, employees may receive arrears for the months during which they were paid DA at the previous rate despite being eligible for the revised rate.

According to the report, arrears for July to October may be paid along with the salary disbursed at the end of November.

However, the exact payment date will depend on the relevant department's payroll processing and instructions.

The figures are estimates based on the minimum basic pay for each level.

Actual arrears may differ if an employee received an increment, promotion or other change in basic pay during the period.

Will the DA Hike Increase In-Hand Salary?

The DA increase raises the gross salary of eligible employees.

However, the change in take-home salary may not be identical to the additional DA amount.

An employee's salary can include basic pay, DA, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance and other applicable components.

Deductions may also apply.

In some cases, a DA revision can affect the calculation of other allowances where the applicable rules link them to DA.

However, any such changes must be determined according to the relevant government orders.

Employees should therefore check their salary slips to understand the final impact.

How Does AICPI-IW Affect Dearness Allowance?

The All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) plays an important role in determining DA revisions for central government employees.

The index measures changes in the prices of goods and services consumed by industrial workers.

According to the report, the average index for the 12-month period from July 2025 to June 2026 was 148.65.

The report states that the resulting DA calculation was approximately 63.76%, with the applicable announced rate fixed at 63%.

The official DA rate is determined through the government's prescribed calculation and approval process.

Will Pensioners Also Benefit From the DA Revision?

Yes. Alongside the increase in DA for eligible serving employees, Dearness Relief (DR) for eligible central government pensioners has also been revised from 60% to 63%.

DR is calculated on the basic pension or basic family pension, subject to the relevant rules.

For example, a pensioner receiving a basic monthly pension of ₹25,000 would receive an additional ₹750 per month following a 3-percentage-point DR increase.

The revision is also effective from July 1, 2026.

Eligible pensioners may receive arrears depending on the timing of implementation.

Is the DA Increase Related to the 8th Pay Commission?

The latest DA revision applies under the existing 7th Central Pay Commission framework.

It is separate from any future recommendations or implementation decisions relating to the 8th Central Pay Commission.

A higher DA rate does not automatically mean that a new fitment factor or revised basic salary has been approved.

Any changes to the pay matrix under the next pay commission would require a separate government decision.

Where Can Employees Check Official DA Notifications?

Central government employees can check official DA orders through the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance.

The relevant circulars generally specify the revised rate, effective date and applicable employee categories.

Official website: Department of Expenditure.

Employees can also contact their department's accounts or payroll section for information about arrears and revised salary payments.

DA Hike 2026: Final Salary Update

The increase in Dearness Allowance from 60% to 63% will provide additional monthly income to eligible central government employees.

At the minimum basic pay of Levels 1 to 10, the monthly DA increase ranges from ₹540 to ₹1,683.

Because the revision applies from July 1, 2026, eligible employees may also receive arrears for the period before the new rate is reflected in their salary.

The key takeaway: A 3-percentage-point DA hike means employees receive an additional 3% of their basic pay every month. Level 1 employees at minimum basic pay gain ₹540 monthly, while Level 10 employees at minimum basic pay gain ₹1,683. The actual increase depends on each employee's current basic salary.
