Households looking for ways to make their LPG cylinder last longer now have another option to consider. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited is promoting its Bharat Hi-Star LPG stove, which uses specially designed high-efficiency burners to reduce heat loss during cooking.

The stove is currently being advertised in two-, three- and four-burner configurations, with steel-body and glass-top models available for different kitchen requirements. BPCL has also said that selected models can be purchased online through Amazon.

Although recent reports describe it as a “new” gas stove, Bharat Hi-Star is not a newly developed product. BPCL officially introduced the high-efficiency stove in July 2021. The company has recently renewed its promotion and expanded its consumer-facing model range.

How Does the Bharat Hi-Star Stove Save LPG?

The stove’s main selling point is its claimed thermal efficiency of more than 74%. Thermal efficiency indicates how effectively the heat produced by burning LPG is transferred to the cooking vessel.

A conventional burner may lose part of its heat to the surrounding air. BPCL says the Hi-Star design improves the direction of the flame and the mixing of air with LPG, allowing more of the generated heat to reach the utensil.

However, more burners do not automatically result in lower LPG consumption. The most suitable model depends on cooking habits, countertop space and the number of burners generally used at the same time.
