Kia Syros EV: Kia has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the launch of the Syros EV, its second mass-market electric SUV after the Carens Clavis EV. The company has also opened bookings for the new model at ₹25,000. With an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 526 km, fast-charging capability, advanced technology, and a comprehensive ownership package, the Syros EV is set to challenge rivals such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the growing electric SUV segment.

Kia Strengthens Its EV Line-Up in India

India's electric vehicle market continues to witness rapid growth, with automakers introducing new models to cater to increasing demand. Kia's latest offering, the Syros EV, is designed to provide long driving range, premium features, and modern safety technologies while making electric mobility more practical for everyday use.

The company says the SUV combines performance, convenience, and connected technology to appeal to urban as well as long-distance drivers.

Two Battery Pack Options Available

The Kia Syros EV will be offered with two battery pack choices, allowing buyers to select a variant based on their driving requirements.

The larger 51.4 kWh battery pack delivers an ARAI-certified range of up to 526 km on a single charge. According to Kia, this makes the Syros EV one of the few electric SUVs in its segment to cross the 500 km driving range mark.

Customers looking for a more affordable option can choose the 42 kWh battery, which offers a claimed driving range of 443 km.

Performance and Acceleration

Powering the Syros EV is an electric motor producing 171 PS, offering smooth and responsive performance for city as well as highway driving.

The variant equipped with the larger battery can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds, making it one of the quicker electric SUVs in its category.

The instant torque delivery typical of electric vehicles is expected to provide effortless overtaking and improved driving comfort.

Fast Charging for Everyday Convenience

Charging convenience remains a major consideration for EV buyers, and Kia has equipped the Syros EV with multiple charging solutions.

Using a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 39 minutes. The SUV also comes with a 10.8 kW onboard AC charger for home and workplace charging.

To improve charging efficiency in varying weather conditions, Kia has included battery conditioning technology, which helps optimize battery temperature before charging.

Extensive Charging Network Support

The Syros EV is integrated with the MyKia app, allowing owners to access a wide public charging network using a single digital wallet.

According to the company, users can utilize more than 20,300 charging points across 23 charging operators through the app.

Kia has also expanded its own infrastructure with over 129 DC fast-charging locations across dealerships and 275+ EV-ready workshops, providing additional support for customers nationwide.

Premium Cabin Packed With Technology

The new electric SUV features a modern interior equipped with a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display, integrating the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and climate controls into a single layout.

Other key interior highlights include:

  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • Harman Kardon 8-speaker premium audio system

  • Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates

  • Ventilated front and rear seats

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Digital Key functionality

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support

  • 16-litre front storage compartment (frunk)

These features are aimed at offering a premium ownership experience while enhancing comfort and convenience.

Strong Focus on Passenger Safety

Safety has also been given significant importance in the Syros EV.

The SUV comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) offering 16 autonomous driving assistance functions.

In addition, the vehicle includes:

  • Six airbags

  • 360-degree surround-view camera

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Disc brakes on all four wheels

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

  • A total of 25 standard safety features

These systems are designed to improve both active and passive safety during everyday driving.

Ownership Benefits Beyond the Vehicle

To encourage EV adoption, Kia is introducing several ownership programs along with the Syros EV.

Customers will receive a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty (subject to terms and conditions, up to 15 years), an Assured Buyback Program, and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option to reduce the initial purchase cost.

These initiatives are intended to address common concerns surrounding battery life, resale value, and overall ownership costs.

Final Thoughts

With a claimed driving range of up to 526 km, fast-charging support, premium technology, advanced safety systems, and flexible ownership benefits, the Kia Syros EV enters India's competitive electric SUV market as a strong new contender. As demand for long-range electric vehicles continues to rise, the Syros EV aims to offer buyers a well-rounded package that combines practicality, performance, and modern features while competing directly with established models in the segment.
