Kia Syros EV Debuts in India With Up to 526 km Range, BaaS Option and Feature-Rich Cabin

Kia has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the launch of the all-new Kia Syros EV, introducing its most affordable electric SUV yet. The company has also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model, allowing buyers to reduce the upfront purchase cost while paying separately for battery usage.

Designed to make electric mobility more accessible, the Syros EV offers two battery pack choices, an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 526 km, fast-charging capability, premium interior features, and advanced driver assistance systems. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from July 30.

Kia Syros EV Pricing and BaaS Model Explained

The Kia Syros EV enters the Indian market with a starting ex-showroom price of ₹13.49 lakh, while the Battery-as-a-Service plan lowers the initial acquisition cost to ₹7.99 lakh by excluding the battery price from the vehicle cost.

Under the BaaS program, customers pay a battery subscription charge of ₹3.3 per kilometre, making the vehicle more affordable for buyers who want to switch to electric mobility without paying the full battery cost upfront.

The new Syros EV becomes Kia India's most budget-friendly electric offering and follows the launch of the Carens Clavis EV as the brand's second mass-market electric model.

Two Battery Pack Choices With Certified Range Up to 526 km

The Syros EV is built on Kia's K1 platform and is offered with two battery configurations to suit different driving requirements.

The entry-level model is equipped with a 42 kWh battery pack, delivering an ARAI-certified MIDC full-cycle driving range of up to 443 km on a single charge.

Buyers looking for longer-distance capability can opt for the 51.4 kWh Extended Range battery, which offers a certified driving range of up to 526 km. According to Kia, this makes the Syros EV one of the first electric SUVs in its segment to cross the 500 km certified range milestone.

Performance and Charging Capabilities

Powering the Extended Range version is an electric motor producing 171 PS, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 8.1 seconds.

Charging convenience has also been prioritized. The Syros EV supports 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in around 39 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

For home charging, the SUV comes equipped with a 10.8 kW onboard AC charger, offering flexibility for everyday charging needs.

Exterior Design Gets EV-Specific Styling

Although the Syros EV shares its overall silhouette with the internal combustion engine (ICE) version, Kia has introduced several electric-specific design updates.

The company provides the first owner with a 15-year unlimited-kilometre warranty on the high-voltage battery. Buyers can also take advantage of an Assured Buyback Program, under which the vehicle may retain up to 80% of its value after three years, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

Charging infrastructure has also been expanded through Kia's K-Charge ecosystem, giving customers access to more than 20,300 charging points across India.
