Hero MotoCorp is preparing a major expansion of its premium motorcycle portfolio as it looks to strengthen its position in India's fast-growing mid-capacity bike segment. According to recent reports, the company is planning to introduce several new motorcycles ranging from 150cc to over 400cc, targeting riders seeking a blend of performance, touring capability, and modern styling.

The strategy forms part of Hero's broader effort to compete more aggressively in the premium motorcycle category, where customer demand has been rising steadily over the past few years.

Bigger XPulse Adventure Bike Under Development

One of the most anticipated products in Hero's upcoming lineup is a larger version of the XPulse adventure motorcycle.

Industry reports indicate that the company is working on a new XPulse powered by a 411cc or 421cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The motorcycle is expected to deliver approximately 40–45 PS of power, making it significantly more capable than the current XPulse models.

If launched, the new adventure bike would target riders interested in long-distance touring, off-road riding, and adventure travel. It is also expected to compete with established models in the mid-capacity adventure segment.

Hero MotoCorp has not yet officially confirmed the final engine specifications or launch timeline.

Focus Expands Beyond Adventure Motorcycles

Hero's upcoming plans are not limited to adventure bikes. The company is also expected to strengthen its presence in the 150cc to 350cc category, which continues to attract a growing number of urban commuters and weekend touring enthusiasts.

Reports suggest that Hero is evaluating multiple motorcycle formats, including:

  • Street motorcycles

  • Sport-oriented models

  • Cruiser motorcycles

  • Premium commuter bikes

Some of these products may also be introduced through Hero's collaboration with Harley-Davidson, while others could carry the Hero brand.

The company aims to appeal to younger buyers looking for motorcycles that combine everyday usability with premium styling and improved performance.

Premium Segment Continues to Grow

India's premium motorcycle market has witnessed increasing demand as more customers upgrade from entry-level motorcycles to larger-capacity models.

Consumers are now placing greater emphasis on features such as advanced technology, refined engines, touring comfort, and distinctive design. This trend has encouraged manufacturers to expand their offerings across multiple engine capacities.

Hero MotoCorp's reported product strategy appears to align with these changing customer preferences.

₹1,500 Crore Investment Planned

To support its future product roadmap, Hero MotoCorp is reportedly planning an investment of around ₹1,500 crore.

The proposed investment is expected to be used for:

  • Developing new motorcycle platforms.

  • Increasing production capacity.

  • Expanding premium motorcycle manufacturing.

  • Strengthening the company's electric vehicle business under the Vida brand.

  • Enhancing research and product development capabilities.

The investment also reflects Hero's long-term strategy to maintain competitiveness in both internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles and electric mobility.

Premium Dealership Network to Expand

Alongside new product launches, Hero MotoCorp is reportedly expanding its premium retail network across India.

The company aims to offer customers an improved buying and ownership experience through dedicated premium dealerships featuring specialized sales, service, and customer support.

This expansion is expected to complement the launch of new higher-capacity motorcycles and strengthen Hero's presence in the premium two-wheeler market.

Official Launch Details Awaited

While several reports indicate that Hero MotoCorp is preparing an ambitious premium motorcycle lineup, the company has yet to announce official launch dates, complete specifications, pricing, or market availability for the upcoming models.

Industry observers expect more information to be revealed as Hero moves closer to production and launch. If the reported plans materialize, the company's new range could significantly expand its footprint in India's rapidly evolving premium motorcycle segment.
